1. Who we are

Handsign (handsign.app) is operated by [legal name], [legal form], registered under [registration number], [postal address], France. Contact: [email protected]. By creating an account or calling the API, you accept these terms.

2. The service

Handsign generates images of handwritten signatures from a name you provide, through a website, a playground and an HTTP API. Each image is synthesized by a machine learning model. Two requests with the same parameters and seed return the same image; without a seed, every image is new.

3. Zero data retention

Names and generated images are processed in memory for the duration of the request and returned in the response. They are never written to a database, a file, a log or a backup, are never shared, and are never used to train or improve a model. Handsign cannot retrieve an image after the response has been sent.

What we do store: your email address, a salted hash of your password, a hash of each API key with its name and creation and last use dates, and one usage record per generated image containing the time, style, size, generation time, the key used and whether it came from the API or the playground. These records exist to enforce quotas and show your dashboard. They contain no name and no image.

To prevent abuse, we keep short-lived rate limit records: IP addresses are stored only as a keyed hash, never in clear, and deleted after 48 hours. We send one email to confirm your address through our email provider, and new accounts may go through a Cloudflare Turnstile check, which does not use tracking cookies.

Requests are encrypted in transit. Signatures are generated on hardware we operate, reached through Cloudflare, our network provider, which does not store request contents. We use no advertising or analytics trackers. Deleting your account deletes your usage records and API keys. You can exercise your rights of access, rectification and erasure under the GDPR by writing to us.

4. Accounts and API keys

You are responsible for your account and for every request made with your API keys. Keys are shown once at creation; we only keep a hash. Keep them secret, never embed them in client-side code, and revoke any key you believe is exposed. You must provide an email address you control.

5. Acceptable use

You may use Handsign to create signatures for yourself, for people who asked you to, or for fictional content. You must not use it to:

• imitate, reproduce or approximate the signature of a real person without their consent;
• forge, falsify or alter any document, or deceive anyone about who signed it;
• commit fraud, identity theft or any other unlawful act;
• overload, probe or reverse engineer the service, or bypass quotas.

We may suspend an account or key that breaks these rules, without notice when the breach is serious.

6. Legal value of signatures

An image produced by Handsign is not, by itself, an electronic signature within the meaning of the eIDAS regulation and does not prove consent or identity. If you need a legally binding signature, use a qualified electronic signature service.

7. Plans, quotas and payment

Plans, prices and quotas are listed on the pricing page. Quotas reset on the first day of each month at 00:00 UTC and unused signatures do not roll over. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance; you can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current month. We may change prices with 30 days notice by email.

8. Ownership of images

Subject to these terms, you may use the images you generate for any lawful purpose, including commercial use. We claim no rights over them and, since we keep none, we cannot use them ourselves.

9. Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee it, and the service may be interrupted for maintenance. The Free plan comes with no service level commitment.

10. Liability

The service is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amounts you paid us over the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect damages. You are solely responsible for how you use the images you generate.

11. Termination

You can stop using Handsign and delete your account at any time by writing to us. We may close accounts that breach these terms. Sections 3, 6, 8 and 10 survive termination.

12. Changes and applicable law

We may update these terms; material changes are announced by email at least 30 days in advance. These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence.
